|
Saturday, September 16th: It's game day once again and
Cake Day to celebrate the birthdays of Kris and Chanda so we're all
headed for the home of Kira and Chanda Norman at 9797 Bruton Road (Apartment 804)
in Dallas. (map)
Fun, games, and birthday celebration are the only agenda so join the crew for
this special event. Bring snacks and soft drinks to share. |

|
Sunday, September 10th: Our special Trek Aniversary monthly meeting
was held at our regular meeting place, the
Half Price Books

events, planned for Retreat in January, and the October Dallas Comic Con. |

gathered for popcorn and a very special day of DVDs on the big screen at the
home of Dan Stockelman in Plano. (map)
We celebrated the 40th anniversary of Star Trek with an assortment
of the crew's favorite episodes. |

|
Saturday, August 19th: Game Day was replaced by Cake Day this month as
the crew headed for the home of Kira and Chanda Norman in Dallas. Fun, games,
and cake were the only agenda. |

|

place, the Half Price
Books location on Northwest Highway in Dallas. We met in the community room
to discuss ship's business and upcoming events. |
Saturday, August 12th: 12 noon - Senior staff meeting was held at the Black Forest
Cafe in the Half Price Books location
on Northwest Highway in Dallas. Liz ran the meeting as Robyn was travelling to Austin for one
night at Armadillocon, an Austin science fiction convention.

|
Friday, August 4th through Sunday, August 6th:
STARFLEET's 2006 International Conference
was held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with three days of Starfleet fun and
fellowship as Region Seven hosted the world of STARFLEET, the international
Star Trek fan association. Region Three took home many top honors
including a Lifetime Membership for RC Admiral Brad Pense. Congratulations to
all the winners. |

|

|
Sunday, July 30th: Our allies on the IKV Melota invited us once
again to share a meal at their Good Day to Dine event. This month they
headed to Genghis Grill
Mongolian Stir-Fry in Plano, near Collin Creek Mall. Elizabeth Weber and
Dan Stockelman respresented the ship at this event. Good eating! |

|
Saturday, July 22nd: Our monthly game day was back at the House of Norman
but on a new date. The crew headed for the home of Kira and Chanda Norman to
enjoy fun and games (and snacks). |

|
Saturday, July 15th: Our monthly meeting was moved in time and space from
the usual second Sunday to this date due to the crew's mission at
Sci-Fi Expo in Plano on that date.
Instead, we met at the home of Dan Stockelman in Plano (map)
after seeing Pirates of the Carribbean: Dead Man's Chest earlier in the
day. We discussed upcoming events, started organizing for Toys for Tots,
planned a birthday party for Kris and Chanda, debated the intricacies of the
potluck dinner, and set the calendar through December. |
 |
 |
Saturday, July 15th: The crew of the USS Trinity River sought
out Davey Jones' locker and found Pirates of the Carribbean: Dead Man's
Chest at the Cinemark Legacy in Plano, Texas. (map)
Robyn, Ed, Dan D., Dan S., Chanda, Kira, Jack, and Kris signed up for the voyage
and reviews were mostly positive for the movie. Now we can't wait until PotC3
comes out next summer. |

|
Saturday, July 8th, and Sunday, July 9th: The crew of the TR spent
the weekend at the Plano Centre in Plano, Texas, for Sci-Fi Expo. We
helped as volunteers and ran a recruitment table to get the word out about
Starfleet and its Dallas-area chapter. (That's us.) There were plenty of
Star Wars celebrities and top comics pros there all weekend, too.
But the highlight came on Saturday when the crew got to pose with Plano's own
Alan Tudyk (aka Wash from Firefly) for a group photo. |

 |
Saturday, July 1st: This was supposed to be a Sector One get-together
with several local science fiction clubs banding together for one big group
outing to see Superman Returns. Unfortunately, only Robyn, Ed, and Jan
from the USS Trinity River were there to fly the Starfleet colors as we
met up with ORAC and IHOD for the movie at the new Rave Motion Pictures 18 at
North East Mall in Hurst, Texas. The movie was beloved by all with plans to
see it again and buy the DVD eagerly discussed at dinner afterwards at the
Carrabba's Italian Grill next door. (Yum.) |

 |
Saturday, June 17th: The crew gathered starting at noon for our second
annual Anniversary Picnic to celebrate the third anniversary of the founding of
our club and our launch as a shuttle. We gathered at Evans Park
(map)
in Plano, Texas, for grilling, eating, partying, and fun in the sun. Well, once
the sun broke through the clouds threatening rain. We were even joined by our
Klingon pals Mark, Lynn, and Markie from the IKV Melota. |
 |
Friday, June 9th, through Sunday, June 11th: The crew of the USS
Trinity River journeyed to Austin in our snazzy new TOS-style uniforms
(thanks to Jan, Kira, and Chanda!) for Region Three Summit 2006.
This is the one time each year where the crews of the ships, shuttles, and
stations of Region Three gather to conduct regional business, hand out awards
and key promotions, and just have fun as a big group.
This year we shared the Woodward Hotel
with a group of USMC veterans which really puts things in perspective and reminds
us all that we're in the pretend military, not the real one. The USS Ark Angel
did a great job of keeping the event running smoothly and the region's new awards
procedure kept ceremonies short and on point. We had fun hanging out with the folks
behind Starship Exeter and as always the banquet was followed by a great
charity auction (which raised over $1000 for the USS Texas) and casino event. |

|
Sunday, June 11th: Our monthly business meeting was held very briefly at
the Region Three Summit 2006 in Austin, Texas. (We'll return to our regular
meeting place, the Half
Price Books location on Northwest Highway in Dallas next month.) We talked
about the picnic, badge making, and other upcoming events before returning to
the Metroplex from a great Summit. |

|
Saturday, June 3rd: Kira and Chanda Norman hosted our monthly game day
at their home in Dallas. Settlers of Catan was on the agenda and the Norman
sisters managed to wrest control of the trophy bear away from Dan. |

 |
Sunday, May 27th: The crew gathered at the Cinemark Legacy to watch
X-Men: The Last Stand in glorious DLP on the big screen. Much fun was
had and reactions were generally positive. Then we broke with tradition (and
our schedule) and went to Bennigan's in Allen for lunch. Yum. |

|
Sunday, May 14th: A small monthly meeting was held at our regular meeting
place, the Half Price Books
location on Northwest Highway in Dallas. It was Mother's Day so many of the crew
were otherwise occupied. We made final plans for movie day and set up a few
committees for Summit 2007 which we will be hosting. |

|
Saturday, May 13th: It was game day once again and we all headed for
the Dallas home of Kira and Chanda Norman. Fun was had, games were played,
and Dan now has control of the (unnamed) trophy bear. |

 |
Saturday, April 29th and Sunday, April 30th: Dallas Comic Con 7
featured Thomas Jane, Karen Allen, Michael Gross, a fistful of Star Trek
actors, and other celebrities from TV and movies. As is our tradition, most of the
USS Trinity River crew was on the scene. Some folks were working with the
show's promoter directly (Robyn, Ed), some were working the USS Trinity River
recruiting table (Jan, Kris, Dan D., Andy), and some were doing both (Dan S., Kira,
Chanda). USS Trinity River crew members helped make this a fun and safe
event for all. Special thanks to Mark and Ben for letting us help out and thanks
to all the Trek actors for posing with our group for photos. |

|
Sunday, April 9th: Our monthly meeting was held at our regular meeting
place, the Half Price Books
location on Northwest Highway in Dallas. We planned for the upcoming Dallas
Comic Con, Summit 2006, and made some initial plans for Summit 2007. We also
set dates and times for upcoming events like our X-Men movie night. |

|
Saturday, April 1st: The first Saturday of the month is game day and once
again and the crew headed for the home of Kira and Chanda Norman in Dallas.
Fun and games (specifically the Settlers of Caitan this month) were the only
agenda and Kira, Chanda, Jan, and others had a good time. Somebody won the
Trophy Bear no doubt. Join us next month for another game day. |

 |
Saturday, March 25th: The crew of the IKV Melota invited its
allies (yes, that includes us) to a celebration, the Klingon
Ball 2006, at the Burlseson Community Center. Formal wear was requested and
the outfits were spectacular. Along with the fun, this event helped raise funds
and awareness for the Arlington Women's Shelter.
There were door prizes, a costume contest, games, and so much more. Thanks to
our Klingon pals for inviting us.
Here's the map and flyer as a PDF
file as a lovely souvenir of this event. |

|
Sunday, March 12th: Our monthly meeting was held in our regular meeting
place, the Half Price Books
location at 5803 E. Northwest Highway in Dallas. We met in the community room
to discuss upcoming events and more. Crew members were in attendance. |

|
Saturday, March 11th: It's game day once again and we gathered at the
home of Kira and Chanda Norman in Dallas. Fun and games were enjoyed by
the crew members in attendance. |

|
Sunday, March 5th: We gathered as a crew for an Oscar™ party to
celebrate the year in movies and mock the awards ceremony recognizing them.
People brought finger foods to share as came together for fun and fellowship
at Dan Stockelman's house in Plano. And, yes, it's hard out here for a Pakled. |

|
Saturday, February 18th: It was time for game day at the home of Kira
and Chanda Norman in Dallas but winter weather threatened to shut it down.
Indeed, there were many traffic accidents on the highways but none involved
our crew as only the Dans, Stockleman and Dreesbach, braved the sleet to
enjoy the festivities. A new "trophy" bear was awarded to Dan S.'s custody
for winning the games that night. This as-yet unnamed bear will be passed on
to each winner at every future game night. |
 |
Sunday, February 12th: 1:00pm - Our February monthly meeting
waa a celebration of the two year anniversary of our commissioning back in
2004! Instead of gathering at our regular meeting place and time we threw
ourselves a party at the Dave & Buster's
in Frisco, Texas, starting at 1:00pm. Robyn, Liz, Ed, Kira, Chanda, Dan S.,
Dan D., Jan, and Kris were all in attendance.
We first met as a club at a Dave & Buster's in Dallas back in June 2003 so
now this is our annual tradition. Another tradition, one started by the CO of
our old mothership, is novelty beverage containers. In 2004 Byron Flynt gave
each member a glass with the TR logo etched in the side. For 2006, Ed
made custom thermal tumblers with the ship's logo, outline, and other insignia.
Two notable events at this anniversary were welcoming Van Archer, a former
'Fleet member looking for a new club, as a guest and the acquisition of a
mascot for Game Night in the Dave and Buster's game room. Much like Lobo, our
mascot, was freed during our first meeting, this Care Bear With A Trophy On His
Belly But No Official Name Yet was won by the whole crew pooling tickets. We
look forward to continuing all of these traditions for many years to come. |
 |
Saturday, February 11th: It was Fan Appreciation Day at the Richardson
Civic Center (map)
and most of the crew was on the scene! Some folks were working with the show's
promoter directly (Robyn, Ed, Liz), some were working the USS Trinity River
recruiting table (Jan, Kris, Dan D.), and some were doing both (Dan S., Kira,
Chanda). Special guest Anthony "C-3P0" Daniels was signing all day and USS
Trinity River crew members helped make this a fun and safe event for all. |
 |
Sunday, February 5th: The crew gathered at Dan Stockelman's house in
Plano to watch Super Bowl XL! The evening of fun, food, and funny
commercials (oh, and a football game) was enjoyed by Robyn, Ed, Kira, Chanda,
Kris, Dan, and Dan's guest Dwayne. Chili and meatballs topped the snacks with
homemade brownies and cookies kicking an awesome point after. Predictions
about the game were made with a Lazer Tag pistol at stake and Kris will tally
the answers and announce the winner in a few days. |

 |
Saturday, January 28th: 1:00pm - Our first movie night of 2006
was at Dan Stockelman's house in Plano. The crew enjoyed a screening of
Galaxy Quest followed by completion of the Starfleet Academy exam about
the movie. The plan to take crew photos for the website and the 2006 recruiting
flyer was delayed until Fan Day on February 11th. (Remember to wear a uniform
if you have one or a red, blue, or yellow t-shirt if you don't!) Also, we
celebrated the start of the Chinese Year of the Dog with a meal prepared by our
own Daniel Dreesbach. Yum. |
 |
Saturday, January 21st: CO Robyn Winans, Kira Norman, and Chanda Norman
took the Shuttle Allen down to Austin to meet with the regional staff
and the captains of Region Three as they gathered for their Annual Retreat.
As is the tradition, this event was held on the site of the upcoming
Region Three Summit
which this year will be in Austin, Texas, at the
Woodward Hotel. The year's
regional calendar was outlined, the 2007 Summit bids were discussed, and other
Region Three business was attended to. Some folks tried the hotel's food
at a "tasting" event and declared it good. Robyn says she can't wait to bring
the whole crew to Austin for Summit. |

|
Sunday, January 8th: Our first monthly meeting of 2006 was held
at our regular meeting place, the Half Price Books
location on Northwest Highway in Dallas. Reports were given, upcoming events were
discussed, Toys For Tots campaign awards were distributed, and plans for our Summit
2007 bid near a conclusion. More news and photos soon. |
 |
Saturday, January 7th: It was game day once again and the crew headed
for the home of Kira and Chanda Norman in Dallas. Fun and games were the only
agenda and the crew brought snacks and soft drinks to share. |

|
Saturday, December 10th: The crew gathered at the home of Jan and
Allen Agee for our third annual Christmas party. Robyn and Ed brought
the ham and the crew brought the sides and the munchies. The Ferengi gift
exchange was quite lively with Half Price Books gift cards being the most
stolen items this year. After several hours, the crew returned to their
posts full of ham and holiday spirit. |

|
Sunday, December 11th: We held our final monthly meeting of 2005 at our
regular meeting place, the Half Price Books
mothership in Dallas. Plans were made for coming year, meeting dates were confirmed,
and departmental reports were given. Also plans to bid to host the 2007 Region
Three Summit this summer were discussed. CO Robyn will continue to contact area
hotels to find acceptable space and rates. |

Saturday, July 30th: Road trip! The crew of the USS Trinity River
met up with our Klingon pals on the IKV Melota in Italy. No passports
were required because we mean Italy, Texas, home of the Starship Pegasus
theme restaurant. CO Robyn Winans and CMO Jan Agee made a day of it with a side
trip to the Hillsboro outlet mall for a bit of shopping. Then it was back to
exit 386 to join up with Chanda, Kira, Dan S., Dan D., Debbie, Elizabeth, and her
pal David for hours of gaming, fun, food, and fellowship. |
Dan Stockelman emerged victorious in the first USS Trinity River
Miniature Golf Classic with the Kira and Chanda Norman tied for second just behind him.
Thanks to owner Andy Gee and his family for making this a day to remember. We'll plan another
trip aboard the Pegasus soon. Photos coming soon.
 |
Saturday, July 23rd: Our first official Gaming Night was held at the
Dallas home of Kira and Chanda Norman. They grilled hot dogs and the crew
brought the chips and drinks and such. Kira and Chanda were in attendance,
of course, along with Dan Dreesbach, Dan Stockelman, Kris Winegar, and Andy
Wait. So much fun was had that another Gaming Night has been scheduled for
August 13th. (Check the calendar page for all the details.) |
 |
Sunday, July 10th: It's a double-movie weekend! Right after the
monthly meeting, we departed for the Sector One Movie Day and the 4:10pm
showing of War of the Worlds at Eastchase Cinema in east
Fort Worth. Robyn, Ed, Kira, Chanda, Dan D., and Andy made the journey
to the event, hosted this time by the USS Regulator. Unfortunately,
scheduling and other events conspired to keep everybody from that crew
away except new 3rd Brigade OIC Colonel Mark West. |
The movie was pretty good (with some big questions and plot holes left
open) and the consensus was generally favorable. Afterwards, we decamped to Schlotzsky's
for sandwiches and conversation. We'll play host to the Sector for Movie Day to see
Joss Whedon's Serenity at the end of September. Photos coming soon.
 |
Sunday, July 10th: Our monthly meeting started on time at 1:30pm.
A full dozen crew members were in attendance at our regular meeting place, the
commuity room of the Half Price Books
location on east Northwest Highway in Dallas. CO Robyn Winans passed out
awards and promotions to those who were not able to attend IC plus some
overdue SFMC awards to Ed, Jeff, and herself. |
The big surprise was the return of Jeff Lester, a long-time crew member
whose work schedule had kept him from any weekend activities for over a year. Debbie Winters
also made an appearance and delivered an in-depth report from the science department. We set
future game and movie nights for the next few months (check the calendar
for details) then wrapped things up so we could head over to Fort Worth for Sector One Movie Day.
Photos coming soon.
 |
Saturday, July 9th: It's clobberin' time for the crew of the
USS Trinity River! After CO Robyn Winans and CMO Jan Agee joined
our Klingon pals on the IKV Melota to offer a blood donation to the Red
Cross, the crew gathered at Vallew View Mall for the 4:10pm showing of
Fantastic Four at the AMC Valley View 16. Reviews were
mixed to so-so with nobody marking this one a "must see." We'll cross
our fingers and hope that War of the Worlds is more satisfying. |
 |
Friday, July 1st through Sunday, July 3rd: Much of the crew attended
STARFLEET's 2005 International Conference
in San Antonio, Texas. Robyn, Liz, Ed, Kris, Eric, Chanda, Kira, Jan, and Dan
took a 'Fiesta Trek' to the Alamo City for three days of fun and fellowship as
Region Three hosted the world. In fact, Robyn was on the IC committee and Ed,
Dan, Erik, Kira, and Chanda were volunteers. |
 |
Ed and Jess Naumann (of
Space Station Freedom III)
also organized a special photo shoot with STARFLEET members and special guests Vaughn Armstrong,
Richard Herd, and Casey Biggs. Many regional awards were presented to the crew and two members
received flag-rank promotions: Erik Cowand is now a Brigadier (SFMC) and Robyn Winans
is now a Commodore. Congratulations to everybody and many thanks to those who sacrificed
to help make the event a success. Photos coming soon!
